Nose: Pineapple, walnuts, white pepper, cigar leaf, clay, dried apricots, mixed herbs. After about 20 minutes, there is a strong note of treacle.
Palate: Pineapple, walnut, brazil nut, some lemon, blueberry bubblegum, quite herbaceous.
Finish: It has a medium length with pineapple, spices, herbs, nuts, blueberry bubblegum and, finally, the cigar leaf makes a return.

Karuizawa distillery used to be owned by Mercian Corporation. They used only Golden Promise barley and sherry casks to make their whisky, with wooden wash backs and water from Mt. Asama, a still-active volcano. The spirit was distilled with 4 small pot stills, then matured in ivy-covered warehouses. Distilling ceased in 2000 and the distillery site was sold to a new owner in 2012.

Nose: Pear, vanilla, brine, a little vinous(white wine), oranges, oak, smoke.
Palate: Explosion of malt, lemon sherbert, sweet oak, salt, hint of sherry, blackcurrent, smoke, mouth coating
Finish: Long, starts with malt and blackcurrent sweetness then ashy/smokey dryness. After about five minutes some yeast and fresh cut timber join in.Excellent blalance.

Nose: A luscious basket of fresh and dried fruits: tinned apricots and peaches, slight aroma of Japanese pear, mashed strawberries and hints of banana custard. Over time candied musk sticks surface with dried pineapple and malt. Wood spice and karinton: black sugar fried dough biscuits. Taste: Mild and ultra-clean but slightly a tad watery for my liking. Bitter chocolate, walnuts, malty, brown sugar and burnt toffee are the major flavours. The mouthfeel is totally opposite to the nose, where did all the lush fruits vanish to? Finish: Short to medium; but leaning more towards the quicker side of things with an abrupt bitterness, walnuts, followed by minerals.

Nose: Sherry, honey, malt, dates, raisins. No grainy notes that I can pick up.
Palate: Light bodied. Sherry, some nuttiness, toffee, dates, and a little nougat.
Finish: Short on dry sherry, toffee and nuts.
General comment: A simple, untaxing whisky that works best mixed or on the rocks, as the makers intended.

The Mars whisky is born in Kagoshima in 1949, and pass in Yamanashi; to Nagano. "3 +25" is the barrel pure malt whisky which matured in malt home brew of the three years aging that they succeeded from Kagoshima and Yamanashi again in a place of Nagano for 25 years. In various natural environments, as for the whisky which continued being unexploited, sweet fragrance and vanilla incense harking back to dried fruit by the aging for the long term become more attractive, and heavy, rich taste is the gem which it is a comfortable lingering sound, and I have a long it, and continues.

Suntory released a new no-age-statement Hibiki entitled “Deep Harmony”. This new edition is built around Hakushu malt matured in ex-red wine casks and Chita grain matured in ex-sherry casks. The blenders consider this to be a variation on the sweet and elegant taste profile of the Hibiki 17 but it’s quite unique because of the use of ex-red wine cask matured Hakushu. It’s bottled at 43% ABV. The label is a ‘sakuranezu’ [a traditional Japanese sort of mauve] coloured special type of washi, suggestive of grapes (in reference to the red wine and sherry origin of the casks used to mature the components). It is exclusively available to the bar trade in Japan.
